New Vento bands from 6 April 2020

The Presidents of the Employment Tribunal in England & Wales and Scotland have released new Vento Bands in respect of claims on or after 6 April 2020. The new bands take into account changes in the RPI All Items Index released on 25 March 2020.

A third addendum to the Presidential Guidance which was published on 5 September 2017 (with a first addendum issued on 23 March 2018 and a second issued on 25 March 2019) has been released. The updated Vento bands, which apply to any claims presented on or after 6 April 2020, shall be as follows:

* - a lower band of £900 to £9,000 (less serious cases); * - a middle band of £9,000 to £27,000 (cases that do not merit an award in the upper band); and * - an upper band of £27,000 to £45,000 (the most serious cases), with the most exceptional cases capable of exceeding £45,000.

NB these bands take account of the 10 per cent Simmons v Castle uplift.
