Supreme Court to rule on Employment Tribunal fees next week

Decision to be handed down 26 July 2017

The judgment in Unison's challenge to the Employment Tribunal Fees Order is to be handed down next week, at 9.45am on Wednesday 26 July.

The Supreme Court heard the appeal in March this year before a panel of seven: Lord Neuberger, Lady Hale, Lord Mance, Lord Kerr, Lord Wilson, Lord Reed, Lord Hughes.

The issue (in the Supreme Court's words) is

"Whether the Fees Order imposing fees in the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeals Tribunal breached the EU principle of effectiveness, and whether it was indirectly discriminatory."
