July 2014 CPD Questions

The questions this month relate to the following costs cases and to Mark Shulman's article on costs:

Appeal against an ET decision that did not award expenses against the claimant who withdrew his claim at the last minute. Appeal dismissed.**

[Horizon Security Services Ltd v Ndeze and The PCS Group** ]()UKEAT/0071/14/JOJ
Application for reimbursement of fees after a successful appeal.**

[Geere v Worcester Citizens Advice Bureau & Whabac & Ors** ]()UKEAT/0114/13/RN
Appeal against the dismissal of the claimant's claims, and against a costs order made against him, both decisions having being made at a PHR with the judge sitting alone. Appeal allowed and remitted to a fresh Tribunal.**

[Crossland v OCS Group UK Limited & Anor** ]()[2014] EWCA Civ 678
Appeal against the making of a deposit order and against an order for costs. Appeal dismissed.**

[D'Silva v Manchester Metropolitan University** ]()UKEAT/0172/12/LA; UKEAT/0173/12/LA
Appeal against a decision by the ET not to recuse itself from hearing a costs application having reached a view as to the claimant's credibility at an earlier liability hearing. Appeal dismissed.**

For each question answered correctly 10 minutes of CPD is added to your training record so if you answer all 12 that will give you 2 hours.

Barristers: please note that, according to BSB rules, you will have to answer at least 3 questions correctly, equivalent to 30 minutes, for the training to count towards your CPD requirements.
